Keeping your daughters off the pole
When did I become so conservative?
Pablo is a big fan of Chris Rock’s stand up comedy and he does a great bit about parenting tips to keeping daughter from becoming a stripper. I remember that before I had a baby, I thought it was hysterical. But now, I look around with fresh eyes at the teens on the street and I am not laughing anymore.
I used to think that allowing Matilda a Barbie (or not) would be one of my most serious parenting decisions. No way could I have predicted that a company would invent Bratz Babyz. Or the fact that Disney actually sells peignoirs for 5 year olds. Is there any wonder why I sometimes fantasize about running off to homeschool Matilda in an isolated house with a thatched roof and no media?
I really think that the sexualization of little kids starts out really innocently. First makeup and nail polish for 3 year olds and then parties where they dress little kids like Jean Benet Ramsey. From there, you go to thongs and padded bras for 7 year olds, and hooray, you get to take your daughter for her first Brazilian bikini wax when she is 12!
So how do I save Matilda from this fate?
that is what i am going to be thinking about at 4 am in the morning.
thank you baby, i knew i could count on you, damm it!!
the father of the baby i question
That’s not conservatism, that’s rationality. You’ve heard me complain about bratz and a million other things. It’s like those cherry merry muffin dolls of the late 80s that my relatives got me. Yes, women are so very clearly baked goods. So just have them be one in the same – a muffin, THAT TURNS INTO A DOLL!
Oh, and random, but I hate chris rock.
